It houses a 1340cc in-line 4-cylinder fuel injected, DOHC liquid-cooled power plant that comes with 16-valves and Twin Swirl Combustion Chambers. To take its performance to the ultimate level it comes with an ultra light aluminum alloy pistons with a compression ratio of 12.5:1. It comes with Suzuki’s SDTV (Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve) fuel injection system with dual 12-hole, Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) coating on the upper compression, Composite Electrochemical Material (SCEM) cylinder plating and Lightweight titanium valves coupled with Iridium spark plugs for top of the line performance not matter what the conditions are.

There is no shortage of technology on the motorcycle that makes it one of its kinds on the planet. It has the drive mode selector (Suzuki Drive Mode Selector) to assist the rider to alter the engine performance according to the riding conditions and his likings. The exhaust system on Hayabusa is one of the best in the world with a large capacity catalyzer, dual triangular canisters and closed loop system.

Hayabusa comes with an optimized 6-speed transmission features oil spray to the 4th, 5th, and 6th gears, a lightweight and rigid twin-spar aluminum frame, fully adjustable inverted front fork, bridged aluminum alloy swingarm, and a beautiful and informative instrument cluster features four analog meters for speedometer, tachometer, fuel gauge and water temperature with a S-DMS mode indicator, gear position indicator and adjustable engine-rpm indicator.

R1 sports a 998cc, liquid-cooled 4-stroke DOHC 16 valves (titanium intake valves) power plant with YCC-T and YCC-I and Transistor Controlled Ignition. The 2012 Yamaha YZF R1 include some new features like Seven-level Traction Control System that’s allows the rider an edge over its competition while exiting corners.

Front suspension is 43mm inverted fork that are fully adjustable and rear suspension comes with a single shock w/piggyback reservoir which is 4-way adjustable. Front brakes are dual 310mm disc with radial-mount forged 6-piston calipers and rear with 220mm disc with single-piston caliper.

The 2012 model is fitted with an all new ECU settings which enhances the ability of the motorcycle during the low and mid rpm acceleration. Yamaha is contemplating to launch their super sports motorcycle R6 in India but it will take some time. This middle weight beast will roam on Indian roads only by this year end. Looking at the aggressive pricing of the Ninja 650R, Yamaha may also price R6 very aggressively. You can accept the motorcycle to be in the price range of Rs. 6-6.5 lakhs.

R6 has 599cc liquid-cooled inline 4-cylinder, DOHC, 16 titanium valves, fuel injected engine with YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle) and YCC-I (Yamaha Chip Controlled Intake). It got Transistor Controlled Ignition, a 6-speed w/multiplate slipper clutch transmission and a magnesium sub-frame for increased mass centralization. The handling is superb due to Deltabox aluminum frame which is best in the class and Ninja 650R can never match.

To allow better control on braking R6 comes with a dual 310mm front disc brakes and five-spoke 17-inch wheels. It also comes with a integrated lap timer and digital instrument panel this is loaded with features like digital speedometer, analog tachometer, programmable shift light, odometer, water temp gauge dual trip-meters with miles-on-reserve function apart from lights for neutral, high beam, low fuel and turn signals.

Yamaha stall at Auto Expo 2012 was worth visiting. They showcased some great motorcycles there. I must say here that their new R15 is a stunner and a great entry level sports motorcycle. R15 was placed right next to R1 and it was complimenting the Legendry R1 very well. V-Max was a dominator as ever.
